There is a viral post spreading across social media of a screen shot by a person named “Ray Andres” indicating that there is going to be a school shooting at “SHS” tomorrow.

This is a nation-wide post that originated in the State of Ohio, and has since spread concern and fear in every school in America with the acronym “SHS.”

There is NO CREDIBLE THREAT to any of our schools here in Safford. As always, the Safford Police Department and Safford Unified School District considers the safety of our school children our top priority. Thank you all for bringing this to our attention. Please help spread the TRUTH that there is no credible threat.

See something. Say something. Do something.

In the past Safford High School has allowed students to have a special bus pass to ride the bus or ride a different bus as long as the office received a request from a parent by a phone call or note. This is no longer being allowed. Effective immediately, students will not be allowed to receive a bus pass for non-emergency reasons. If you know in advance that your student will need to ride a bus or ride to a different location, an Emergency Bus Pass form needs to be picked up from the SHS office or can be downloaded from the SUSD website under Transportation. The form must be turned in to the office with a parent signature by the morning of the day the bus pass is needed. After receiving administrator approval, it will then be forwarded to the transportation department. Last minute emergencies do occur and allowances will be made with discretion.

Below you will find a link for Arizona graduation requirements. Each school district may, at their discretion, establish additional graduation credit requirements for their students. Please Note: Safford High School requires 24 credits for graduation.

SUSD Homeless Program

Are you currently homeless or experiencing temporary living arrangements due to eviction, job loss or a traumatic event? Safford Unified School District offers services to families through the federal McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act. The Act offers services for children and families who are in a temporary living situation in someone else's home or are homeless. Services may include enrollment assistance, school supplies, nutrition services, community referrals, and in some cases, school transportation. If you are living in any of the following temporary circumstances, you may fit the criteria for assistance under this act: with another family or friend due to financial hardship, living in a shelter, transitional housing, in a hotel/motel, or are an unaccompanied youth. Please contact Susan Lindsey at 928-348-7018 to inquire further about qualifying for this program.
